What should I wear for a dinner dance??

My school always has an 8th grade dinner dance. I really need help w/ my dress, make up, jewlery, and shoes. Picture would be great!!!!

What should I wear for a dinner dance??
I dont have any pictures but I have the perfect tips!

Get that perfect dress: Frenchies and secondhand stores sell clothes for less. Mind you, a lot of formal dresses are expensive, so the dresses might be mid-priced. (a $200 dress might be somewhere between $60 -$80) Also, Macy's and Bloomingdales have great formal mini-dresses for about $20 - $60. So unless you need a puffy Cinderella dress, go to Macy's.

Put on makeup carefully: You'll want to put on a sheer foundation and unless you have to, skip the powder. You might want to go for the smokey eye look and clear lip gloss. Remember that you can only dramatize the eyes or the lips. If you can't do your own makeup, go to the local mall or have a parent/friend do it for you. Another good makeup idea is a glittery shadow. It will highlight your eyes and make them the focal point.

Choose the right jewelry: Don't go overboard matching. Either necklace and bracelet, bracelet and earrings, or necklace and earrings. Don't match all 3!

Nails: Get a manicure/pedicure or glue on nails. Keep in mind that if they are too long or too squared off then it will not be glamorous it will be tacky. Which is pretty pointless.

Hair: Style your hair to go with your dress. Experiment the week before the formal to see what looks best with your dress, frame, etc.

Shoes: For most young girls, you want 1/2-1 inch heels. Remember you will be dancing all night, so pick up shoes you're comfortable in. Either buy cheap shoes you will not wear again but match the outfit or buy expensive shoes that you will wear with every outfit.

Grooming: Get ready by shaving, plucking eyebrows, showering, etc. It's good to get ready with friends! Having a tan is hot but if you are using a self tanner be sure to have used it before. You don't want to look orange and blotchy for your big night. Ick!!!

Have fun! You earned it!
Reply:Here are a couple that might work, but I'd first ask my friends to see if the are all wearing long dresses or short ones.

Makeup:

Wear powder - shine on your face does not photograph well

Dark Mascara

Lip liner and lip stick in pink or natural color

If your Mom will allow eyeshadow - don't use a shiny one as it does not photograph well.

Jewelery: Don't overdo it becaue it tends to look unclassy. Just one beautiful item will do. Necklace or bracelet maybe.

Joy to you!
Reply:okay. assuming you have an average price range here are some options. Sorry. I don't have a lot of room for all of the links!

-Ann Taylor LOFT has amazing dresses that are on sale

-Make up just do eyeliner and some lip gloss. you don't want to look like you're trying too hard

-Shoes. Do a colorful pair of flats to spice up the outfit.

-Jewelry-wear your favorite necklace and a bracelet that matches your shoes.
