What should I wear to my lyrical dance class?

I decided to take a lyrical dance class to get some exercise and try a new form of dancing. My understanding of this form of dance was that it is more modern. I have no idea what to wear. I was thinking of wearing a sports bra and sweatpants with tennis shoes, but I have no idea what is appropriate. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

What should I wear to my lyrical dance class?
you should wear a sports bra then a shirt over it just in case cause then you could take it off

then wear shorts under ur sweat pants.
Reply:definately wear a tanktop over the sportsbra, and then wear leggings or tights with spandex shorts
Reply:Keep it as simple and comfortable as possible. I'm not sure about the footwear required. Ask about that ahead of time as different classes vary. Other than that, keep your clothes simple. You want the focus or attention to be on your moves, personality, style, expression, etc.

Best of luck :)
Reply:Are you taking the class through a local dance school or like a summer college course? If you are taking it at an actual dance school, you best bet would be to call ahead and ask if there is anything special you need for class or to wear. Your sports bra works fine, just bring a fitted top to wear over it, (you don't want a baggy loose shirt hindering your movement). On bottom wear some dance shorts and/or dance warm ups. Also check about any kind of proper footwear you might need:

Now if the class is through a summer college program or something similar to that, you might be fine in just the sports bra and sweats (though as a word of advise you will get really overheated in sweats). Again check with the teacher of the course to see if there is anything you need for class or need to wear. It's always the safest bet when you are taking any kind of dance. It's respectful to the teacher of the class, and makes a good impression. Hope this helps you out!
