When do you normally get point shoes?

I have been doing dance for 4 years. How many years does it normally take to get point shoes?(I think my feet have stopped growing,I am in fith grade and am a sie 6 1/2 in womans):-)

When do you normally get point shoes?
You normally get pointe shoes when you are ready to study pointe. You need many many years of ballet and your ballet dance teacher will need to evaulate you to see if you are strong enough to go on pointe. It depends on each dancer. I hope that I helped you out.
Reply:Listen to Charlotte H's answer. She is absolutely correct. It is not an age thing or if your feet have stopped growing or not. You have bones in your feet that remain soft (kind of like cartilage) and don't completely calcify into solid bone until you are into your teen years (like 14 or 15).

Your teacher will evaluate when you are ready to begin pointe work. She will look at your ballet technique, the strength of your legs, ankles and feet, and your attitude toward dancing to decide if you are ready physically and mentally for the challenge.

Good luck and keep on dancing. Work hard in class and you will improve and you'll be en pointe in no time.
Reply:Normally you get them when youre ready for them ask your dance teacher and talk with him/her if youre ready for them.Good Luck
Reply:its not how old you are or how big ur feet are. you have to really be ready or like a girl in my dance studio, you can fall and break your ankle. plus if ur in 5th grade, you got a while. maybe wait till 8th or 9th grade until your really ready. and trust me honey, in 5th grade your feet are NEVER stopped growing :[

Reply:I got my point shoes 9 years after I started ballet, I was 2 when I started and I still love it!
Reply:it took me 7 years- your in fifth grade? wow i got mine when i was in fourth and i am much older now. i even go to a professional studio so don't think i go to a crappy place who does recitals! my studio is strictly classical ballet and modern
Reply:Your teacher will determine when your ready.

You need to have strong ankles, dood posture and also listen to charolette's advice.
Reply:I was only in ballet a year before I went to point.

some don't work their way there as fast as others. there may be a reason your teacher does not want you to. have you spoken your concernes with her?
Reply:How long you've been dancing only playes a small factor, it has alot to do with strengh. Most teacher won't let you start pointe till your at least 11 and offten times closer to 12 or 13 is more normal. I'm 14 and just started pointe last month because I have as shalow arch
Reply:Your supposed to get point shoes when your ready, when you know what your doing, My dance studio put me on point shoes when I was 7 turning 8 and that was defiantly to young, I was not ready but they put me on them anyway well once they did that, my feet stopped growing and I really did not wanted to dance in them( and the ruined my FEET)

My advice hold off with the Pointe shoes I would wait till your a little older, becuz soon you will realize you never wanted them on in the 1st place so wait a little longer see what happens. Hope this Helped.
Reply:first you do have to stop growing, now you must build your muscle. i have no seen anyone younger than 11 get en pointe. but there are some that are 8 that are strong enough and there are some that are 14 and yet to be strong enough. your teacher will tell you when you are good and ready.
