Is it against the rules to wear tights to a semi-formal school dance?

I have this really cute outfit picked out for the dance coming up at my school. But it's semi-formal and my outfit consist of a skirt (That my wonderful, fashionable sister transformed into a shirt.), tights, knit shoes, a sequin belt, and a small jacket. I was just wondering if tights weren't allowed in dances were u have to wear dresses. It's technically a dress, just with tights. Is there an unwritten rule against wearing tights? Would I not be able to get into the dance if I go in tights?

I don't think wearing tights would be a problem. You are still wearing a dress and your outfit is semi-formal. I don't think it is anything to worry about, but if it's really getting to you ask the school or a friend. I think you'll be fine.
Reply:I guess there is no real rule against it, but I don't think it is proper wear for a semi-formal dance. A dress or a skirt would be better to wear.
Reply:As long as you like it and feel good in the outfit that is all that matters.
Reply:I think I would ask around to see if other's are wearing skirts or dresses if you are wearing tights and no skirt or dress over them.
Reply:I am assuming you are not from America %26amp; the tights you are talking about are pants (slacks). Ask your school if pants are allowed before hand. You do not want to go %26amp; be told no you can not come in.

If American %26amp; tights are thick pantyhose, you will have no problem.

Have fun!!
Reply:if your boobs were showing, then you wouldn't get in, but if you wear tights, i'm sure there is no problem. if you like the outfit, go for it...
