That is really exciting! However, there is a certain age you should be to get your pointe shoes, and I believe it is a little older than 12. The reason is because the teacher wants to wait until the feet are fully developed. Putting anyone younger in pointe shoes could damage their feet before they are fully developed and that would be bad.

As to when you'll get them, it really depends on when your teacher thinks you are ready. Pointe work is very hard on the feet and ankles, as well as the legs. It takes a great amount of strength you keep yourself up en Pointe. Your ankles should be strong too.

Look for a change in your regular bar routine. Is your teacher making you do new excercises that work your calves a lot? Are you doing more plies and releves? She may even cut out some time to work at the barre to prepare you for the shoes. It really depends on the teacher and his/her plans.

Works hard in class and maybe your teacher will notice. Good luck and I hope those Pointe shoes come soon!
Reply:How old are you now?
Reply:It depends on how old you are. No one should start until they are 12, but if you wait until you are 14 it is better. If you want to start sooner, you should go to the doctor to get your feet x-rayed to see if they are fully developed. Also, if you do exercises to strengthen your ankles, and do things that give you callouses on your feet, you will be better off. I started ballet when I was four, and now I am fourteen and I just started pointe a couple months ago, but already I am as good as the people my age who started when they were twelve and are my age. I think it was better that I waited.
Reply:You need to work on your arch and leg strength. I was 12 when I got mine and began dancing at 6. Good Luck Pointe is awesome!
Reply:Well, I'm 11 and I just got mine in October. I have also been taking ballet since I was 3. Pointe work is HARD work. Before I just wanted them sooo bad I didn't care how they felt. But i'm really glad I didn't get mine a year earlier, or else I could have hurt myself because I wasn't strong enough. Just be patient. When your dance teacher thinks you're ready, you're ready.
Reply:I've always heard that you need to be at least 12 years old before you get your shoes. This has given your leg muscles and ankles the training they need to be able to support you. There's really nothing to do, just keep training and drink in your teacher's instructions. Don't overwork yourself at home, but do practice. If you overwork yourself, you could get injured and that could keep you out of your pointe shoes even longer. Just be patient. Your teacher knows when you are ready. %26lt;3
