8th grade dance questions...?

Sooo we have this 8th grade dance coming up, real soon and i'm this guy whos not like into formal stuff and im getting confused with like what to wear and all that stuff..So really i'm asking what i need to prepare for and what to wear and all that. Personal experiences from other people will help a lot. It's from 7:00 to 9:00...One of my friends is going to wear a collared shirt with a tie with black pants and shoes (he hasn't really told me any details on the shoes but he says it's nice sooo). I don't want to embarrass myself cuz that's gonna haunt me for life so yeah. Any tips on anything??

8th grade dance questions...?
I'm wondering why you don't just ask a few of your classmates what they are wearing that night to be sure. My adopted grandson, around your age, and his friends, still just wear jeans and a nice shirt or shorts and a t-shirt to the dances here in Indiana. I guess it would depend on the type of dance and the type of dress the students in your school normally wear. My adopted grandson would NEVER show up in dress pants. He would be mortified. ....just because NO ONE else in his school would either. Good Luck, hon. :o)

Reply:wear the same thing!
Reply:well check with your other friends and find out what they are doing. a guy at my school is trying to get all the guys to wear pink! lol pretty funny.

only 33 days until my 8th grade graduation! im excited

have fun!
Reply:At my 8th grade dance (back in the day) the teachers told us "it was not prom, so don't dress up like it's prom" and sure enough, everyone went out and bought prom dresses, had their hair done, and rented limos (it was in vegas...people rent limos because they're cheaper than taxis). do what you want, i say. it won't haunt you for life...i promise.
Reply:wear some dress pants and a button up shirt with nice shoes. -from an 8th grade girl

it'll definetly be good! =]
Reply:I would recommend dressing casual/dressy. You don't want to show up in a tuxedo but you also don't want to show up in cut off shorts and a dirty shirt. I would wear some nice jeans or maybe even slacks and a nice shirt.
Reply:Hmm..I dont remember any of my 8th grade dances being formal.

I think a collared shirt and dress pants are nice. Wear comfortable sneakers or dress shoes...and keep in mind its goin to be hot
Reply:It really dosn't matter unless the dance is like a graduation dance. You should at least look nice. As long as you don't wear ripped jeans and a baggy tee-shirt your all set. Talk to your other friends and ask them about what ther wearing..Im a girl soo sorry I can't help to much....
Reply:My motto is dress nice and still be comfortable with what to wear some nice jeans a logo shirt and a tux like you know a tuxedo shirt going on not to formal and not to normal i call it normal formal
Reply:Just be yourself and dont choose anything that really uncomfortable. Since its a formal event, dress your best, but dont change your personality
Reply:Ask the sponsor if there is a type of suggested dress. Our 8th grade dances were fairly dressy since it was the last dance for all the kids. Most boys wore a sports jacket and tie with dress slacks.

Mostly, though consider wearing dress shoes instead of sneaks. No matter how dressed up you are, if your feet are in sports shoes you don't look dressed up.
