Pointe shoes help!!?

I have very high/strong arches and very narrow/long feet. I dance for fun, I might do competetive when I get older, but never professional. I am of course going to get a professional fitting at my local dance shop, but I just need some questions answered first.

First off, what shoe would you recomend to a high arched, narrow footed person?

Second, what shoes in your opinion last longest for a high arched person?

Third, I love how Gaynor Mindens look...are they good for high arches or are Grishko 2007s better?

Thank you, and please answer.

Pointe shoes help!!?
Hi dolly, I fit pointe shoes. Grishkos are EXCELLENT for dancers with high, strong arches, especially the 2007. The unique thing about the 200t is that its very nice for a narrow foot, but also offers good support for a wider foot with tapered toes. Grishkos aren;t pre-arched, so they are VERY hard shanked, which means you'll really have to work your foot, which isn;t a bad thing.

Gaynors are gorgeous shoes, and they can work well for several types of feet because they are customizable in length, width, and heel width. I personally find that they're too soft for me, but to each his own.

If you're interested in a happy medium between the two shanks, you might like the Capezio Pavlova.
Reply:okay, first of all if you have high arches you should not be looking at grishkos. grishkos are not meant to bend in the shank much, they are meant for girls with large insteps. gaynor mindens may be too flexible for your "high/strong arch". If you have high arches and narrow feet I would recommend going to a freed specialist. i went to one at cpyb over the summer and i love my shoes. i have size 8 (street shoe) with high (not extremely..=( ) arches and narrow feet and i wear Freed Studios. Gaynor Mindens tend to have a large wrinkle in the arches, which is unflattering. capezio makes a lot of shoes that are flattering to girls with high arches, if my freeds fail me i will try capezio next, but i love the freeds. also, pointe shoes are not supposed to last forever, you should not buy very hard shanks in hopes for a long life with them. pointe shoes ideally last me about 2 weeks, because i dance at a pre-professional school with pointe classes every day except thursdays. good luck with your shoes!
Reply:I had the same dillema about a year ago. I have very high arches and long narrow feet like you. The dance shop I went to, and trust very much, along with all of my dance teachers said that Gaynor Mindens are the best for my (and your) type of feet. The ones I got were a bit more expensive then most pointe shoes, but I love the Gaynor Minden shoes I got, and have lasted for a little over a year and are still in good condition. The ones I got were also already broken in, which saved me a lot of time. I personally would say go with the Gaynor Mindens. They are really good shoes.
Reply:Unless you have wide feet with short plump even length toes, Freeds are NOT for you. I danced in Griskos for years, but now when I practice I use the Mindens. You need a long V-shaped toe box if you can get it. We used to double shank our shoes. If you can't, get a longer shank.
Reply:well...sometimes girls with a high arch need to have a high vamp so that your foot doesn't "fall" out of the shoe lol...this can also be helped by a harder shank..

gaynor mindens...hmm...well i want to try them, because i have about a medium arch i think...semi strong but not to much, and i tried them...it felt a little weird because i knew i wasn't getting them that time, i wanted to get grishko 2007's which almost every one is trying or using now days. they are great....i've hardly danced in them yet. my adademy is taking a bit of a christmas break...but anyway.

so i think you should try on grishko 2007's and then maybe capezio might work for you if you have a strong arch. they are diffficult to break in...but if you have a strong arch it might work.
