Spray paint tap shoes?

for my dance recital my teacher wants us to spray paint our tap shoes gold. but mine are patent leather shiny ones (i bought them by accident) How can i spray paint them because i am not gonna buy a new pair just to ruin them???

It will still work on patent leather, but if you are worried about it you can rough up the patent leather with some sand paper before you spray them. This would give the paint something to "hang on to" so to speak.

The best thing I would recommend would be ask you tap teacher. She probably has a certain way she wants it done. And she probably has the best answer then any of us on here. What if you mess up spray painting them? Then you would defiantly probably would have to buy a new pair.
