New Tap Shoes?

I have these new tap shoes, and they're very shiny and slippery on the bottom. What can I do to change this? I dont want to fall on by booty during a dance routine hahaha...

I would appreciate some advice on my new tap shoes thank you!

New Tap Shoes?
rub sand paper on the bottom
Reply:water on the bottoms before class.
Reply:See if you can get a very thin layer of special rubber on the bottom. That is what I did to my character shoes and now they are perfect. Not too slippery and not too rough either. Go to a shoe repair place and ask about that. They know if that would work or not. Just ask them. And ask your teacher too. He/she will give you the best advice because I'm sure they encountered that problem before. Hope this piece of advise will help. Have fun dancing.
Reply:Are they supposed to be slippery? If they are supposed to be that way, than you'll just have to learn to manage it. Good teacher will tell you how. Find out if they are supposed to be that way. If they are not supposed to be that way - don't wear them, exchange them for some other shoes that are not so slippery.

Water on the bottom before the class will last about 15 minutes. Then it will dry out and your shoes will be even more slippery.
Reply:Scratch the bottom of the shoes and dance on sand(if possible) good luck and have fun with tap dance !
Reply:Super Glue Sand paper to the bottom :)
Reply:Next time when buying shoes, buy ones with suede leather soles (the soft brushed leather); or rub the bottom with hard plastic/rubber with grips, e.g. the grooves and treads. Have fun with tap!
